Contest 17 - The Slam Idol Open Writing Challenge - February 20th to April 23rd 2007

The idea: - 6 poets set out to each write a poem especially to compete in a Slam Idol contest, over a period of 10 days. - The poets will each record a daily audio diary to document their personal writing process. They can publish these diary entries themselves (e.g. in an audioblog) or send them to Slam Idol to be published there. - Poets should qualify themselves in the contest by recording an audio diary post where they declare that they're entering the Slam Idol Open Writing Challenge, and post a message on this Forum thread. First 6 poets accepted. - The poets all start writing on the same day. - Slam Idol will produce a show of edited highlights from the audioblogs every couple of days during this process. This may also include listener comments. Hopefully this will show interesting comparisons between the different poets' process and progress, and be interactive for the poets and listeners. - At the end of the 10 days, all 6 poets submit their finished poems to Slam Idol in the form of a recorded performance in audio format. - Slam Idol then plays all 6 poems (as normal) and opens up a voting process for listeners to determine the winner. - If the poets continue to audioblog through the voting stage, Slam Idol may continue to produce shows from edited highlights.
